Tips How To Better Design Your Website

If you are planning on redesigning your website or starting your first web build, you have a bit of planning ahead of you.

These days website needs to look professional, with a quality site design, easy-to-use navigation, straightforward functionality and great site contents and copy. Each of these areas is a separate skill set on its own, so don’t underestimate the task ahead of you.

Below are some tips you can use to better plan your own website and hopefully make it as sticky as possible for site visitors so that they come back again and again.

Navigation

In the early days of the web there were many different experiments with website navigation. As the web is a new technology, there were many different types of convoluted navigation systems. Now, we have found that a simple horizontal or vertical navigation is the best way forward. Make all your navigation links simple HTML text links. Don’t use flash and try to use as little JavaScript as possible.

Plan out your navigational structure first of all on paper. Make sure internal pages are no more than three clicks away from the homepage. When your site navigation looks robust on paper, then put it in place on your website.

There are many things to consider when designing a website. Not only do you want it updated to fit in with new technology but you also want it to be easily accessible to even the simplest of potential customers or clients. Some categories are more important that others when designing a website. Here are just a few key points to go over when designing your own website.

Navigation

First off, one of the most important things to keep in mind while designing a website would have to be navigation. You want your website to be easily navigated through by having the proper titles such as: Home, About, FAQ, Services, Contact. Also it is really important to include your company logo. Not only is it an advertisement for your personal brand but it also helps the customer or client informed on what website they are on. Another helpful tip is to make sure you have navigation on the top and the footer of the website so that you don’t have to scroll all the way back to the top just to go to another portion of the website after reading one of the pages.
