Disable Emojis in WordPress 4.2+ For a Faster Page Load

As of WordPress 4.2, a new feature was introduced that allows you to use the new emojis (the tiny smiley icons). While on some WordPress setups is useful, in many situations, especially when you are not using WordPress as a blog, you just don’t need them and the file /wp-includes/js/wp-emoji-release.min.js is loaded along with extra inline JavaScript code.

As I want my page to load as fast as possible and have the HTML code clean when analysing the source code (as a developer), I’d rather have all that extra code removed, especially since it loads on every page of my website. There are 2 ways in which you can do that. We’ll start with the most convenient one:

1) Disable Emojis plugin

This is the quickest way to do that and emoji’s will still work in browsers which have built in support for them. This plugin simply removes the extra code bloat used to add support for emoji’s in older browsers.

Selective WordPress Plugin Loading: For Faster Page Load

People often complain that WordPress is being slow and that’s true if you use lots of plugins, badly written code that doesn’t follow WordPress coding standards (it’s incredible how many people claim themselves to be WordPress developers without even following the basic coding standards in developing themes and plugins), no caching plugins to boost the speed of your website and no enqueue/dequeue of scripts and style based on the page loaded. The list can go on and on about website loading speed. It’s a topic I’m going to cover more often here at BitRepository.

Today, I’d like to share with you a way to make your pages load faster without doing any coding, which is great for both beginners and advanced developers as it’s often convenient to apply things in the Dashboard rather then updating the code.

Engage your RSS Readers: Bring My Blog Visitors Back WP Plugin Review

The guys from MaxBlogPress sent me a copy of “Bring My Visitors Back” WordPress Plugin asking me to write a review about it. I accepted to share my thoughts about this product, as I know they are selling quality plugins.

This new plugin is basically altering the RSS feed content in various ways in order to make it more appealing to catch the interest of the reader. It engages him to leave a comment on your blog, share your post via social media, view the advertisements and related posts inserted into the feed content.
